THE popular Sunday morning boot sales could soon be back in Lewes.

The car park company called a halt to the sales after a disagreement with the previous organisers.

A request to stage the sales at the station car park was refused by the district council because of potential traffic problems.

Since then MP Norman Baker a regular visitor to the old sales has been working with local traders and ward councillor Kim Clark to bring the boot sale back to the town.

He wrote to NCP's managing director on August 7 to put a proposition for restarting the boot sale, hammered out between regular traders on the site.

Now NCP has said, in a reply last week, that in principle they would be willing to consider allowing the car boot sale to recommence, subject to agreement of satisfactory terms.
