Here are the results of the by-election in the Sovereign ward of Eastbourne, for Eastbourne Borough Council.
Candidate Kshama Shore retained the seat in Sovereign ward for the Conservatives.
The seat had been vacant since Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell relinquished her role as a borough councillor to focus more on a busy legislative schedule in London.

Hide AdThe results were announced just after 5.30pm at the Winter Garden where the count took place after polling stations closed.
Kshama Shore took 1,996 votes.
In second place was Liberal Democrat candidate Kathy Ballard with 1,160, the Labour Party candidate Louis Thorburn came in third place with 217.
The turnout for voting was 37.67 per cent of the population.
