CURTIS MAIN is backing his Pompey old-pals act to help him hit the ground running.

And the new attacking arrival has told how he believes quickly bedding in at his new home can help him fire the Blues to success.

Main could be in line for his first pre-season minutes since arriving from Doncaster at the Hawks tomorrow night.

The 24-year-old has been easing his way back from a groin issue since Paul Cook landed him on a two-year deal.

The striker will be expected to provide the goal threat needed to turn Pompey into the real deal in League Two next term.

And he believes having familiar faces around will help him to ensure his attacking qualities shine.

‘I see myself as a powerful player. Quick, strong and very direct,’ said Main.

‘I like to get the ball and get it down. Pass, move and be attack-minded. I want to get in on goal and get shots off.

‘It’s been enjoyable to get to know the boys.

‘It’s exciting. It’s a new challenge with objectives and ambitions.
